UKRO, in its capacity as UK National Contact Point (NCP) for the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA), held a virtual information event on how to apply to the ‘MSCA and Citizens’ 2023 Call, also known as the ‘European Researchers’ Night and Researchers at Schools 2024-25’ Call. This call is scheduled to open on 20 June 2023 and to close for submission on 25 October 2023.

This call provides researchers with funding to organise events to promote their excellent research projects to the general public and heighten young people’s interest in science and research careers.

Held on the last Friday of September, the European Researchers’ Night makes science accessible to all through activities which combine education with entertainment, such as exhibitions, hands-on experiments, science shows, games, competitions, quizzes and more. These events always start on the Friday and they can continue the following day, thus lasting for two days. Pre-events, prior to the main event, and related post-events, such as wrap-up meetings or small-scale follow-up events, can also be organised as part of the European Researchers’ Night.

This funding is provided to either one single beneficiary or a consortium of several organisations. Participating institutions usually include universities, private or public research institutions, research infrastructures, businesses including SMEs, public authorities, science museums, foundations, media organisations and other stakeholders interested in promoting excellent research project to the general public.

Eligible funding will be paid out in the form of lump sum contributions.
