The ERC have developed a dedicated lump sum funding page, to help applicants applying to the Advanced Grant 2024 call. The page outlines the lump sum funding approach being undertaken and answers key question related to proposal development and project implementation.
Main messages
- Beneficiaries will receive 80% pre-financing with the remaining funds paid on completion of the project.
- Projects will comprise a single formal work package covering all the project activities to ensure that the project as a whole will be assessed for proper implementation.
- Applicants will still retain the freedom to plan and structure their research proposal in any form they see fit (e.g. research lines, objectives, different scientific work packages, etc.).
- It will be possible to have deviations from the original budget plan provided they serve the scientific goals of the project and stay within the allocated EC contribution.
- There will be no change to the evaluation criteria, however the budget will undergo a more in-depth assessment compared to under the actual cost model.
- Applicants will be required to provide more detail on certain budgetary elements. For example, applicants will need to specify personnel costs in person-months per staff category, and for equipment they will need to include information on the depreciation rules that have been applied.
