The Research Executive Agency have since confirmed that they received 81 proposals. Of these, approximately 30 projects and around 1000 researchers are expected to be funded with an indicative budget of €104.8 million.
This marks an increase of 8.5% from the 2023 COFUND Call, which comparatively received 106 proposals with 27 retained for funding.
Two of the 81 proposals were submitted with UK organisations, both for doctoral programmes.
This is the first MSCA COFUND call since the UK associated to Horizon Europe, meaning successful proposals with UK hosts will be able to receive funding as beneficiaries directly from the EC, rather than through the UKRI Guarantee.
For more information on the submitted proposals, including by type of programme and host country, please read the full MSCA article. Results are expected to be announced in February 2025, with the first of the successful projects expected to start in May 2025.
The 2025 call for MSCA COFUND will open on 23 January 2025 and will close on 24 June 2025.
