We very much welcome opportunities for future discussion with researchers, innovators, businesses, institutions, the European Commission and EU Member States as FP10 develops given our many shared priorities.
We will, of course, be interested in potentially associating to FP10, assuming it is open, relevant, and provides good value for researchers and taxpayers
Responding to questions raised at the House of Lords on 8 October, Science Minister Patrick Vallance expressed openness to a potential UK association to FP10, the next main EU R&I framework programme. This potential association is based on the caveat that FP10 “delivers excellence, is relevant, and delivers value for money for both the taxpayer and researchers”.
Patrick Vallance also confirmed the UK position on a potential association in a written statement on FP10Â published on 7 October 2024.
Vallance further stated that he would be meeting with Manuel Heitor, who is chairing the expert group for the interim evaluation of Horizon Europe, to discuss the ways in which the UK can fully engage with the current and future framework programmes.
This development comes at the back of the recently published UK position paper on FP10, where the UK outlined the key positions for the next framework programmes.
